Barrhead Public Health Centre

A new public health centre has been built at Barrhead in Glasgow, containing two pieces of installation art.

A structural steel tree with inlaid timber cheeks supports three organic part-spherical steel nests. The ground around is in turn inlaid with a hexagonal metal gridwork.

This is echoed in the walnut internal installation, running along one wall of the main internal space of the centre then wrapping up and over to cantilever out from the adjacent wall in a dynamic statement.

AED was responsible for structural design and detailing.
